The thot continues to plicken nicely. Meanwhile, …
This is your friendly neighbor pendant[0].
From Basic Training days long ago, “This is my weapon, this is my gun. This is for fighting, this is for fun.” A gun small enough to be human-portable is in general unrifled (smooth-bore): musket, shotgun, etc. Otherwise there are pistols, revolvers, rifles, carbines, and the proverbial Veritable Plethora™ of terms.
Larger powder-propelled projectile weapons are also guns, like howitzers and those big booming things on ships.

I hate to disagree with you on the gun rifling, but I own a number of pistols, both semiauto and revolver, that are rifled. It’s usually short barreled pistols that are unrifled. Typically, that would be three inches of less. (Or about 7.5 cm) And yes, I’ve even seen rifled 12 gauge rifles. These are used to fire both deer slugs and explosive rounds, but most are, as you said, unrifled, including full auto shotguns like the AA-12.
That ‘click’ is ominous … for the punks. If that means the pistol misfired (made in Taiwan) than it would seem the punks have brought a brick to a knife fight.
